Vallejo Man Suffers Possible Amputation Injury
I’m Ed Smith, a Vallejo car accident lawyer. On Friday, January 6, 2017, a Vallejo man was reported to have sustained traumatic injuries after being in a single-vehicle crash.
What Happened?
Officers from the Vallejo Police Department received a report that there had been a car collision in a residential neighborhood in the vicinity of Sonoma Boulevard just south of the intersection at Cherry Street. Officers responded to the injury accident at about 8:04 p.m.
Crash Details
Officers reported that, when they arrived at the scene of the accident, they found a white 1998 Mazda MPV had collided into a couple of stationary objects before the car came to a complete stop. Police indicated that their initial investigation of the crash led them to believe that the driver lost control of the Mazda while driving at high speeds southbound on Sonoma Boulevard. After losing control of the vehicle, officers reported, the vehicle seems to have collided with a street light pole and then crashed into a large tree.
Injuries to Driver
The driver, a 22-year-old resident of Vallejo, was found trapped inside of his vehicle. The force of the impact had apparently severed one of his legs. After extrication, the driver of the vehicle was taken immediately by ambulance to a local trauma center for treatment. His injuries are not expected to be fatal but may leave the victim with serious and lasting physical trauma.
