Vallejo Resident Identified After Trucking Fatality

On Friday, September 27, 2019, authorities of the Solano County Sheriff’s Department reported the identity of a Vallejo resident who lost his life in a recent area vehicle accident. The decedent was identified as Charles McMurray, a 28-year-old man. According to California Highway Patrol (CHP), the wreck involved two vehicles, including a large tractor-trailer and a Honda Civic. In addition to McMurray, one other individual suffered trauma during the incident. The crash remains under investigation.

Collision Information

CHP reports indicate that this accident happened on Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at around 12:30 a.m. McMurray had been a passenger in a Honda Civic that was heading eastbound on Highway Interstate 80 in Fairfield to the west of Air Base Parkway. Details about the events leading up to the crash have not been provided, but police stated that the Civic collided with the rear-end of a big rig. After the initial crash, the Civic traveled over all eastbound highway lanes before striking the concrete median and coming to a stop.

When response officials reached the crash site, they found that McMurray had sustained critical injuries. Tragically, he was declared deceased at the accident scene. The driver of the Civic, a 20-year-old Suisun City man, suffered minor injuries. Whether or not he received medical care has not been reported. Finally, the driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured during the incident.

Trucking Accidents

Commercial trucks are much larger than normal passenger vehicles and, because of this, can easily cause major damages in the event of an accident. The companies that own and operate these vehicles are aware of the risks of their business and are usually prepared to respond to accidents right away. Typically, these companies will send a legal team to the accident site in order to take statements from witnesses and collect evidence that will help them disclaim any liability.

For this reason, it is crucial for families of people who’ve lost their lives in accidents involving commercial vehicles to get in touch with an attorney as soon as they are able to. Having an experienced lawyer on your side early on in a trucking accident case is often critical to recovering payments for the damages your family suffered as a result of the accident. Not only will your lawyer be able to conduct their own investigation into the accident, but they will also negotiate with insurers and, if necessary, argue your case in court on your behalf.

What Can my Family Recover?

Losing a loved one can have a serious impact on many aspects of your life. Not only is it difficult to cope with your emotions and go through the grieving process, but a sudden family death also usually comes along with a number of financial concerns. After a fatal accident, it’s common for households to lose a source of income as well as services like childcare and home maintenance. This can make it even more difficult to pay for funeral and burial expenses as well as other costs related to the accident itself. To learn about how families can recover for these losses, watch this short video:
