Vallejo Teen Killed in American Canyon Accident
One person tragically lost his life during an American Canyon crash that occurred on the night of Sunday, May 3, 2020. The Napa County Sheriff’s Office has since identified the decedent as a 17-year-old boy from Vallejo. According to the American Canyon Police Department (ACPD), the wreck involved a motorcycle and passenger vehicle and did not injure any other individuals. A GoFundMe page has been set up on behalf of the young boy to help cover his funeral expenses.
Collision Details
The crash happened at around 9:22 p.m. in the area of Via Bellagio just south of American Canyon. The teenager had been driving a motorcycle on Flosden Road near the Daniel Drive intersection. Police say that the teen was driving south on a Honda sportbike when, for unknown reasons, he collided with the passenger side of an Acura Integra. The Integra had reportedly been making a turn from northbound Flosden to enter westbound Daniel Drive.
When police reached the accident scene, they found the teen lying in the road with major injuries. Sadly, he was not able to recover and passed away on-site. The driver of the Integra reportedly remained at the scene and cooperated with investigating officers.
Investigation
ACPD shut down Flosden Road for over five hours while officers investigated the crash scene in order to find evidence that may help them understand what causal factors were involved. Police have reported that driving over the speed limit may have been a factor, but no factors have been confirmed.
Motorcycle accidents like this one can involve a variety of factors and can be difficult for police to properly investigate. Because the decedent can’t tell their version of events to investigators, the police may not notice important evidence that could have a major impact on a wrongful death case. To be sure that the accident is investigated to the fullest extent, you should always get help from an experienced wrongful death lawyer in your area.
