Elk Grove Man Dies in Highway 99 Vehicle Crush Accident
A vehicle crush accident fatality in Elk Grove on January 29 occurred when a driver’s car was caught between two pickups. The collision occurred along Highway 99 northbound close to Mack Road at about 8:00 a.m., as reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). According to the incident report, the Elk Grove driver, age 47, was in their older Toyota and slowed due to another vehicle, a GMC pickup, driven by a Herald man, 53, slowing ahead.
Vehicle Crush Accident Caused by Traffic Slowdown
A Ford F-320 that was being driven by a Patterson man, 21, maintained their speed and crashed into the vehicle of the Elk Grove man’s Toyota. The Toyota crashed into the GMC pickup due to the momentum of the accident. The injured Toyota driver suffered severe trauma and was hospitalized, where he later died.
Deceased Driver’s Identity to Be Released
The identity of the deceased man killed in the vehicle crush accident has not been released yet by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office, which is pending notification of the man’s family. A spokesman for the South Sacramento CHP said that alcohol or drugs did not factor into the cause of the fatal crash, and neither of the other drivers was arrested. The CHP traffic collision unit handles the investigation into the accident.
