West Sacramento Curbing Public Intoxication
A very clever West Sacramento police officer brainstormed a potential formula to curb public intoxication and other alcohol related conduct happening on his beat in the City of West Sacramento.
He started a project to halt alcohol sales at local businesses and establishments to already inebriated consumers.
The plan has been named, Together Everyone Achieves More (TEAM). It is designed to help and support business owners’ efforts to refuse sales of alcoholic beverages to customers that already appear to be under the influence.
How is West Sacramento Curbing Public Intoxication?
Business owners meet with Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) and West Sacramento Police Department officers on issues such as:
- how to spot intoxicated individuals
- Proper beverage sales
- Defusing Potential problems
To show their commitment to the program the merchants receive decals to display on the windows of their establishments.
Officers are diligent to lookout for these businesses and keep in communication with them should they have trouble in and around their stores due to public intoxication, fighting and loitering.
Everyone is excited at the thought of having less public drunkenness in their business and residential community. It just makes good sense to clean up those areas that have been offensive.
The TEAM program has a mission. Law enforcement partners with local business to reduce alcohol related incidents. So far, West Sacramento merchants are willing to learn how to do their part.
We applaud West Sacramento Police Department and the business owners who are teaming with the city to refuse sales of alcoholic beverages to already intoxicated individuals.
