Rescuers Extricate Driver From Vehicle in West Sacramento Accident
A rollover accident occurred in West Sacramento on March 21 that injured the driver. The collision occurred at 3rd and C streets around 5:36 p.m. when officers with the West Sacramento Police Department and fire department were sent to that location. They discovered a silver-colored car upside down on its roof. The female driver was inside and being held suspended by her seat restraint. Firemen quickly secured the vehicle so it would not move and extricated the woman safely. The woman was medically assessed, and it was determined that her injuries were not life-threatening. She was transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment and evaluation. The incident is being investigated by the West Sacramento police to determine how the accident occurred.
Causes of a Rollover Accident
Many rollovers are caused by driver error. However, not all of them are, and when negligence by another person or entity is involved, the injured person can place a claim for compensation. Because proving the cause of a rollover accident requires special experience and techniques, enlisting the help of a seasoned lawyer is necessary to obtain compensation. Some of the causes of rollovers that do not involve driver negligence include:
- Tire failure: A blowout caused by a defective tire can result in a rollover accident. The manufacturer can be held responsible for any injuries caused by this type of incident.
- Hazards in the road: Roadway hazards can include debris, potholes, fissures, and upheavals in the pavement. It also includes items dropped by a vehicle such as lumber, metal, or pieces of furniture that cause a motorist to swerve out of the way and result in a rollover accident.
- Vehicle defects: Manufacturing or design defects can lead to a rollover accident, although many now come with stability control, which is designed to prevent rollovers. Vans, light trucks, and SUVs are most likely to experience a rollover because they are top-heavy. An added danger is the risk of roof crush because the manufacturer did not provide enough strength in the car’s pillars to prevent it. If roof crush occurs and results in harm, frequently traumatic head injuries, the injured person may place a product liability claim against the manufacturer, designer, and others.
- Another vehicle: If another motorist crashes into a vehicle, especially when their car strikes the side of another, it can cause a rollover. In some cases, the vehicle that caused the collision flees the scene.
How an Experienced Lawyer Helps You Obtain Compensation
A seasoned personal injury lawyer can help you get compensation to pay your lost wages, medical bills, and reimburse you for your pain and suffering. At my office, we send out investigators to the accident site to gather the evidence needed to support your claim. They interview witnesses and check for errors in the police report. Accident reconstruction is performed, which is valuable when preparing a court case or negotiating with insurers. Video footage from nearby traffic and business cameras provides real-time evidence of how the crash occurred and who was at fault. When the evidence is gathered, our lawyers work hard to build a strong case, so our client can obtain the compensation they deserve. It helps when getting ready for a court case or in negotiating on our client’s behalf with the insurance company.
