Accident on Riverside Parkway Results in Fatality
A single-vehicle crash into a tree killed a driver in West Sacramento on February 4. The incident happened around 8:00 p.m. along Riverside Parkway between Reed Avenue and Tule Jake Road. Police were called about the accident and upon arrival saw that a vehicle had struck a tree and caught fire.
Driver Perishes in Single-Vehicle Crash
Although the officers at the scene attempted to extricate the driver from the vehicle, they were unsuccessful as it became engulfed with flames. Personnel with the West Sacramento Fire Department arrived and extinguished the blaze, but it was too late to save the driver’s life.
Name of Driver Released
The young woman who died in the crash was identified as Danielle Draney, age 22, and a student at Sacramento State University. After her graduation in May, she intended to attend law school. A candlelight vigil is scheduled at the university ballrooms one and two on February 9 at 6:30 p.m. All are invited to attend. A GoFundMe site has been set up to help out with the funeral and burial costs.

Reasons for a Single-Vehicle Crash
Although driver error is commonly thought to be the cause of a single-vehicle crash, there are numerous reasons why this type of accident occurs. Some of the most common are:
- Accidents involving one vehicle may result from hit-and-runs or reckless drivers who leave the scene of the accident. Many do this because they don’t have insurance or because their license has expired, or others panic. A road rage-inflicted driver might force another car off the road, resulting in a single-vehicle accident. Drivers who are aggressive on the road are likely to have anger issues. Some get into verbal arguments with other drivers or tailgate and weave in and out of traffic. An injury lawyer can investigate an accident using accident reconstruction techniques to determine if another driver was involved.
- Road maintenance problems such as potholes, debris, overgrown foliage, or non-functioning traffic lights can cause a single-vehicle crash. When this happens, the government agency in charge of road maintenance can be held responsible. In that case, a lawsuit against the city or state is filed. Such claims have a different timeline for filing, and a car accident lawyer will ensure that all documents are filed properly and in a timely manner.
- Mechanical problems can cause a single-vehicle crash. These range from tire failure to an accelerator sticking or brake issues. When this occurs, the manufacturer of these products can be held responsible by filing a product liability lawsuit. This is why it is important to preserve the vehicle after an accident. If the vehicle is not destroyed, our investigators examine it to prove liability.
How AutoAccident.com Can Help
At our law firm, we make every effort to help our clients obtain the compensation they deserve.
