Willow Pass Road Pedestrian Accident
A pedestrian was walking along Willow Pass Road in Pittsburg during the early morning hours of Tuesday, February 7, 2017. Unfortunately, a negligent driver traveling in an oncoming vehicle crashed into the pedestrian.
What Happened?
A pedestrian was walking in a marked crosswalk to cross the street on Willow Pass Road at approximately 6:00 am. An oncoming motorist was approaching the pedestrian and crashed into them at the 700 block of Willow Pass Road in the vicinity of Nantucket Drive. Authorities immediately arrived at the scene and closed down the area to investigate into the pedestrian accident.
What Caused the Pedestrian Accident?
Investigators have not yet released the cause of the pedestrian accident. Authorities do not believe that drugs or alcohol played as factors in this accident. However, the time of day may have contributed as a factor.
Were They Okay?
The pedestrian that was struck by the vehicle was a 22-year-old woman that is also a resident of Pittsburg. She was transported via ambulance to the John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek for treatment of her injuries. Thankfully, she was reported to be in stable condition that same morning.

Oncoming motorists must at all times yield the right-of-way to any pedestrian that walks inside a marked crosswalk. Drivers carry a greater duty of care than a pedestrian. The reason for that being that a pedestrian has no form of protection against a moving motor vehicle.
