Sky Tours

Wake up and smell the roses – or go outside and observe the sky! This Friday night, volunteers from the Stockton Astronomical Society will be setting up their telescopes and permitting them for public use. All you have to do is head over to the Athletics 1 parking lot at San Joaquin Delta College. The focus of this month’s event will be gazing at the Moon, Uranus, and Mars. Once it hits 8:00 p.m., viewers will also be able to observe M33 – also known as the Pinwheel Galaxy. The Pinwheel Galaxy requires a large aperture telescope, so don’t miss out on a chance to see what’s invisible to the naked eye.
Open Air Mall Wilson Way Flea Market
Date: Sunday, December 16, 2018
Time: 6:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Location: 3550 N. Wilson Way, Stockton, CA 95205
Admission: Free
This flea market has been a local tradition for more than 23 years now. Spanning a total of 20 acres, the public proudly vends their merchandise as what is known as the Valley’s largest garage sale. On top of garage sales, there will also be a wide variety of fresh produce markets, antiques, clothing, and food. There is a treasure to be found for everyone at the Wilson Way Flea Market.
Japanese Woodblock Prints at Haggin Museum
Date: Wednesday, December 19, 2018
Time: 1:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Location: 1201 N. Pershing Ave, Stockton, CA 95201
Admission: $5 – $8 tickets
Haggin Museum will have a selection of over 30 prints of ukiyo-e on display, which means “pictures of the floating world.” Traditionally, woodblock prints have been used to depict stories of lovers, theatre actors, war heroes, classical literature, history, and landscapes. The Japanese prints that will be showcased at Haggin Museum come from three distinct eras, and all have been hand printed from intricately carved wooden blocks. Come and take a look into the past from an extraordinarily unique, cultural perspective.
