Woman Charged with DUI After Modesto Accident
A woman was charged with DUI after a car accident in Modesto, where she crashed her vehicle into two others. The incident occurred at approximately 11:15 p.m. on McHenry Avenue and Briggsmore Avenue, according to the Modesto Police Department (Modesto PD).
Firefighters and local law enforcement responded to the car accident. A preliminary report revealed that a 2014 Ford Explorer driven by a 29-year-old Riverbank man was rear-ended by a white 2016 Kia Sorento driven by a 25-year-old Modesto woman. The impact propelled the Ford into a 2019 Ford Explorer driven by a 51-year-old Ione man. Modesto PD reported minor injuries in the incident.
Authorities conducted two tests for blood alcohol content (BAC) on the Kia driver. One put her BAC at 0.24 percent and the other at 0.22 percent. That put the Modesto woman at approximately three times the BAC level to legally drive in California, 0.08 percent. She was booked on felony charges of driving under the influence (DUI), resulting in injury, and remained in custody the following morning. Modesto PD reported her bail was set at $50,000. Further details on the incident were not immediately available.
