California Dog Attack Kills Woman While Hiking on Blackhawk Trail

A Northern California dog attack in Butte County, Northern California, resulted in the death of a woman, which authorities have classified as a domestic dog mauling. A group of Great Danes was discovered roaming the area where the victim was found. A hiker in the Feather Falls region made the grim discovery just before 2 a.m., as reported by the Butte County Sheriff’s Office. The deceased woman was located in front of a home along Blackhawk Trail, an area dense with woods. Upon executing a search warrant in the vicinity, deputies encountered 25 Great Danes running loose.

With the assistance of Butte County Animal Services, all 25 dogs were captured, 23 on Thursday and two the following day. The victim was identified as a 56-year-old woman from Feather Falls. An autopsy after the Northern California dog attack revealed she sustained multiple dog bites and other injuries. A forensic pathologist determined that the cause of death was indeed a domestic dog attack. Corbin’s clothing contained DNA consistent with at least one dog, according to tests conducted by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. However, further testing is being carried out to identify which specific dog was responsible for the fatal attack.

Authorities Seek Information in Northern California Dog Attack

The investigation continues, indicating that Corbin was walking in the area before the incident. Authorities urge those with information regarding the case to contact Detectives Mike Worch or Casey Whitney at 530-538-7671.
