Concord Woman Crashed into Pedestrians
A woman from Concord ran over 3 pedestrians outside of a family courthouse in Contra Costa County on the morning of Monday, November 7, 2016. Thankfully, the pedestrians are expected to survive after the traumatic and intentional incident.
What Happened?
A woman was inside her Nevada rental vehicle outside the Peter Spinetta Family Law Center Courthouse in Martinez. The woman was waiting in her parked vehicle in the yellow loading zone for the courthouse at the intersection of Court Street and Main Street. For unknown reasons, the woman’s vehicle launched forward and crashed into a blue van that was reversing out of a parking stall. The woman then reversed her vehicle, pointed her car at a group of pedestrians that were in the crosswalk, and accelerated her vehicle at a high speed to crash into the pedestrians. The impact of the woman’s vehicle caused one of the female pedestrians to collide with the windshield of the vehicle and fall into the intersection. This was where the driver, identified as 60-year-old Kimberly Goldman, ran the female pedestrian and two others over multiple times.
Witnesses Help Injured Pedestrians
Witnesses that observed Kimberly Goldman crash into a group of pedestrians quickly approached her in an effort to prevent her from injuring the victims. Christina Parson, a mother that was pushing her baby stroller at the time of the accident, reported that Goldman’s intentions were clear and deliberate. Parson also stated that she observed several bystanders scream in distress and others attempting to destroy Goldman’s driver’s side window. Witnesses also reported that Goldman’s vehicle was severely damaged due to her vehicle colliding with the pedestrians and also from the bystanders damaging her driver’s side window. However, the damage sustained to Goldman’s vehicle did not stop her from fleeing from the scene of the incident regardless of her airbags deploying in the aftermath.

Driver Causes Automobile Accident
Kimberly Goldman crashed into Will Manuntag, another motorist that was traveling in the vicinity of the scene. The force from Goldman’s vehicle caused Manuntag to lose control of his vehicle which led him to rear-end a vehicle in front of him. The vehicle in front of Manuntag then rear-ended the vehicle in front of him. Goldman then fled from the scene, which caused this automobile accident to be declared as a hit-and-run accident.
Hit-and-Run Driver Jumps From Benicia Bridge
Kimberly Goldman, the driver of the vehicle that ran over three pedestrians, fled from the scene of the gruesome incident. About 20 minutes after the incident took place, authorities received reports pertaining to a woman jumping off from the Benicia Bridge. The United States Coast Guard, California Highway Patrol, and officers from the Benicia Police Department immediately responded to the location. The U.S. Coast Guard discovered the lifeless body and the reported vehicle that was used to crash into the pedestrians in the vicinity of where the woman jumped. Authorities initially refused to release the identity of the woman until the family members of the woman were identified. The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office later confirmed that the body belonged to Kimberly Goldman.
Hit-and-Run Driver Linked to Bad Divorce
According to officers from the Martinez Police Department, the motives of Kimberly Goldman’s actions could be linked to her divorce from her husband, Dr. Brian Halevie-Goldman. Court documents indicate that Mrs. Goldman filed for divorce on October 11, 2016, from Dr. Goldman. That Monday morning, the estranged couple were expected to be in court for another hearing. James Iler, a representative for the Martinez Marina Service, reported that a source observed Mrs. Goldman’s behavior drastically changed after the proceedings in the court. The court proceedings may have led to Mrs. Goldman’s intentions for causing a hit-and-run pedestrian and automobile accident in addition to her suicide.
Pedestrians Injured by Driver
The group of pedestrians that Kimberly Goldman crashed her vehicle into were all individuals that Goldman knew. One of the pedestrians was identified as Dr. Goldman, who was traveling along with two females that were reported to be a friend and a witness for the defense in court for Dr. Goldman. The three pedestrians that were struck by Mrs. Goldman’s vehicle were transported to the John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek. The three pedestrians sustained moderate injuries but thankfully they are expected to survive their injuries.
