Woman Seriously Injured During Boat Accident on Lake Tahoe
On Tuesday, August 4, 2020, a woman was severely injured during a boat accident on Lake Tahoe. The accident occurred in the early afternoon on the north side of the lake. Reports indicated that the woman was airlifted to a hospital for treatment. However, updates on her condition have not yet been reported. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
Accident Information
According to the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District (NLTFPD), the officials responded to the incident at around 12:30 p.m. A woman reportedly had one of her legs caught in a boat propellor in the area of Chimney Beach. The woman was placed on a helicopter and flown to the Renown Regional Medical Center for emergency treatment. Agencies that assisted with responding to the accident included the NLTFPD as well as the U.S. Coast Guard, and the Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District. According to reports, no other individuals suffered injuries during this incident.
Investigation
As authorities continue to investigate what could have caused this accident, no likely factors have been mentioned in reports. Boating accidents can happen for a number of reasons and are often caused by issues with the boats themselves. In these cases, a faulty boat part may lead to a serious injury.
Leg Injuries
Leg injuries can have a huge impact on your life. For many, suffering a major leg injury can mean going through a long, difficult recovery process. In severe cases, survivors may even suffer permanently limited mobility, making it hard for them to participate in activities they care about or perform their jobs. Additionally, accident survivors with limited mobility may need to make expensive modifications to their homes in order to improve accessibility.
Taken together with medical expenses, these damages can add up to an overwhelming amount, and it’s common for injured people to worry about how they will be able to afford the care they need and move forward with their lives after being seriously hurt in an accident.
Calling an Attorney
Thankfully, people injured in accidents can often get the help they need by filing personal injury claims. A personal injury claim seeks to hold negligent individuals and groups financially responsible for the damages that survivors have suffered. These damages can vary widely from case to case, but often include lost income, medical bills, home modifications, and more. Because cases can be complicated, it is always best to get advice from a South Lake Tahoe personal injury lawyer as soon as you possibly can following your accident.
