Woman Suffered Injuries in American Canyon Pedestrian Crash
A woman suffered major injuries after being involved in an American Canyon pedestrian accident on Sunday, August 1, 2021. According to the American Canyon Police Department (ACPD), the accident happened in the morning on a local highway and involved a single vehicle in addition to a bicycle. Updates on the woman’s condition have not been reported, and the collision remains under official investigations at this time.
Accident Details
ACPD reports that the collision happened at around 9:09 a.m. on Highway 29 at the intersection of American Canyon Road. A woman of unreported age was on foot and crossing the street at the intersection while a 2006 Toyota Tacoma was making a turn off of northbound 29 in order to enter eastbound American Canyon Road. Reportedly, the Tacoma collided with the cyclist.
Responding medical officials indicated that the woman had suffered major injuries, stating that she had sustained head trauma. The driver was not injured as a result of the crash.
Investigation
ACPD Sgt. Jeff Scott told reporters that the driver of the pickup turned around and headed back to the scene after realizing he had struck the pedestrian. Scott also indicated that the driver told officers he had looked both ways before entering the intersection, but did not notice the woman in the crosswalk. The driver reportedly fully cooperated with responding officials.
As investigations into the pedestrian collision continue, ACPD has not released a statement regarding the possible causes of the accident. Often, pedestrian accidents result from multiple causes, and, in many cases, these causes aren’t the fault of the driver or pedestrian. Examples include insufficient signage, dangerously designed crosswalks, auto product failures, and more. In these cases, third parties may share liability for damages caused by the collision.
Recovering from Head Injuries
Head injuries are serious and can cause a wide variety of difficult-to-manage symptoms, including chronic headaches, seizures, loss of sensation, paralysis, difficulty with cognition, vertigo, and more. Additionally, the recovery process can take a long time and often includes a number of medical procedures in addition to long-term medication use and physical therapy sessions.
Taken altogether, the necessary care for a head injury is often highly expensive, leaving many injured individuals uncertain of how they will be able to afford their own recovery. Car accident survivors deserve to heal, so it’s important to reach out to an American Canyon pedestrian accident lawyer who can help you obtain compensation to cover your medical expenses.
What damages can I recover?
Often, car accident survivors who work with a personal injury lawyer are able to obtain full compensation for a variety of medical expenses, including things like in-home care, mobility aids, surgeries, medications, and more. In addition to medical expenses, it’s also common for survivors to receive compensation for lost income or earning potential as well as for their pain and suffering.
