Woman Seriously Injured in Redding Area Crash

Collision Information
Authorities from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) issued a report indicating that a single vehicle collision occurred along Deschutes Road in the vicinity of Meyer Road near Bella Vista shortly before 8:00 p.m. CHP officers indicated that a woman in her twenties had been traveling on Deschutes Road when her vehicle allegedly veered off of the roadway for unknown reasons. After the woman’s vehicle left the roadway, it collided with a nearby tree. The impact of the collision reportedly caused the vehicle to overturn, ejecting the driver in the process. The collision was initially reported by a passing driver who discovered the wreck and immediately notified authorities.
Injuries
The driver of the vehicle suffered major injuries and was transported by ambulance to an area hospital to receive emergency care. The specific nature of the woman’s injuries were not reported and updates on her condition have not yet been made available. The vehicle’s passenger was found with minor abrasions and complained of pain. The woman was taken by a separate ambulance to the hospital for treatment.
Investigation
CHP is investigating this accident in order to understand the causal factors that were involved. Officers have not yet stated whether drugs and/or alcohol played a part in this collision.
