Worker Hit by Car Interstate 80 Sacramento
I’m Edward Smith, a car crash lawyer in Sacramento. A car crashed into a concrete barrier and hit a construction worker on Tuesday, February 2, 2016. The crash happened along Interstate 80 in Sacramento. According to California Highway Patrol (CHP) the crash occurred at around 4:30 a.m. in the Across the Top construction zone near El Camino Avenue. We have embedded a Youtube video of the accident below.
Across the Top Construction Zone near El Camino Avenue
The injured man is a subcontractor for Caltrans who was working in a freeway construction zone west of El Camino Avenue in Sacramento. The worker was standing outside of his pick up truck and trailer unit.
Worker Hit by a Toyota Avalon
A motorist heading eastbound was driving in the closed construction zone area. CHP indicated that the motorist was not supposed to be driving there. The motorist crashed into the Caltrans worker’s trailer unit and then hit the worker. Amazingly, the worker suffered only minor injuries as a result of the crash.
Motorist Driving in Wrong Area Sustains Major Injuries
The driver of the Toyota that hit the subcontractor for Caltrans received major injuries. He had to be extracted from the wreckage of his Toyota by fire personnel. The motorist sustained bone fractures along with other injuries.

Contact Ed Smith, a Sacramento Bone Fracture Attorney
I’m Ed Smith, a Bone Fracture Attorney in Sacramento. The legs are particularly vulnerable in a car crash. This is because they are the first thing hit during a front end auto collision. They’re also the first thing hit during a side impact crash. The legs can be fractured anywhere—from the large femur in the thigh down to the tibia and fibula in the lower section of the leg. Both types of fractures may easily become open fractures. This is when fragments of bone stick out through the leg. Femur fractures are often repaired surgically, while fractures in the tibia and fibula area may require surgical repair or sometimes a closed reduction with a casting until it heals.
The ankle may be fractured when a front end crash puts extra pressure on the victim’s ankle. The ankle bends in one direction or another causing the supporting bones to become fractured.
