Yountville Man Passes Away Following Napa County Crash
On Saturday, October 17, 2020, one person lost his life during a car accident that took place near Napa County. Local authorities have since identified the decedent as Constantine Tsavalas, an 87-year-old resident of Yountville. The collision reportedly involved multiple vehicles and happened on a local highway during the afternoon. In addition to the decedent, one other person sustained serious injuries.
Crash Information
According to California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident occurred at approximately 3:00 p.m. on Highway 29 at the intersection of Hoffman Lane just outside of Yountville. Tsavalas had been driving north on the highway in a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder when he performed a left-hand turn in order to enter Hoffman.
As the Nissan crossed over the median and traveled into southbound traffic lanes, it entered the path of an oncoming 2006 Dodge Dakota being driven by a 36-year-old man from Napa. The dodge reportedly crashed head-on at highway speeds into the broadside of the Nissan. Both vehicles were seriously damaged as a result of the impact.
Response
The accident was called into CHP dispatch and officers were immediately sent out to the scene of the incident. When officials reached the site, they found that both drivers had sustained major injuries. Both men were placed on ambulances and rushed to the Queen of the Valley Hospital. Tragically, Tsavalas lost his life while in hospital custody. Reports about the other driver’s condition remain unavailable.
Investigation
CHP is reportedly conducting a full investigation into the causal factors of this accident. However, police did place the driver of the Dodge Dakota under arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol before releasing him into hospital care. As their investigation continues, police have asked that anybody with relevant information contact them. Those who wish to report information should use (707) 253-4906 to get in touch.
Wrongful Death Damages
After deadly car accidents, family members and friends of decedents may experience intense feelings of grief. In many cases, coping with grief can feel overwhelming, and people may even feel like they are in a state of shock. The grieving process takes time, but many individuals are able to find comfort by seeking out support from their friends, family, and communities.
However, families in this situation are also often faced with major financial stress. Not only are many families left with medical bills related to the fatal crash, but they may also suffer a loss of income or services that they used to rely on. Because these losses are serious issues, it’s important to seek help from an experienced injury lawyer as soon as you possibly can.
By getting help from a Napa wrongful death lawyer and filing an injury claim, many people are able to obtain full compensation for the damages described above. Additionally, families can also often obtain payments for more personal losses like loss of parental guidance or companionship.
