Myers Flat Crash Leads to Major Head Injury

On Friday, March 5, 2021, one person sustained serious injuries during a Myers Flat Crash. Reports from California Highway Patrol (CHP) state that the accident happened during the night and that it only involved one car. The injured individual was reportedly hospitalized after the incident, and updates on his health condition were not reported. A CHP-led investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Collision Information

According to police, the accident happened at around 9:03 p.m. on the northbound side of Highway 101, close to the Myers Flat Off-ramp in southern Humboldt County. Few specific details about what took place during the accident have been reported, but CHP traffic information indicated that the wreck was impacting northbound traffic.

Responders arrived at the scene to find the driver outside of his vehicle and walking around, but was visibly injured. Later reports indicated that medical officials believe the man may have sustained a serious head injury. No other individuals were reported to have been involved in this traumatic crash.

Investigation

As officers keep on with their investigation of this crash, CHP hasn’t stated whether or not they suspect any particular factors to have played a role in causing it. Often, single-car accidents are more complex than they initially appear and may have involved one or more causes that the driver had no ability to control. For example, collisions can happen when a vehicle part malfunctions, leaving the driver unable to control their vehicle. In other cases, seriously damaged pavement forces drivers to swerve unsafely, often leading to serious collisions.

Head Injuries are Serious

Suffering a blow to the head is likely to result in a traumatic brain injury (TBI). TBIs can have far-reaching effects on your life, and many of the symptoms can be very serious. Severe TBIs can result in difficulty with language, seizures, loss of sensation, paralysis, and more. While there are treatments to help survivors recover and cope with their injuries, the recovery process for a traumatic brain injury can take a long time.

During this period, crash survivors often require assistance around the home in addition to medical care. Furthermore, brain injury survivors are also left unable to perform their job either temporarily or permanently, meaning that they may have difficulty affording the necessary medical treatments.

Getting Help

These issues leave many car accident survivors feeling overwhelmed. However, it is possible for many people to get help by filing a personal injury claim with the help of a Eureka car accident attorney. By doing so, it’s possible to claim full payments to cover the personal and economic damages that you suffered as a result of your injuries.

If you were in an accident and want to know what payments you might be able to obtain through a personal injury claim, you should consult with an attorney before making any legal decisions.
