Bicyclist Sustains Injuries in Davis Car Accident
On Saturday, July 25, 2020, a bicyclist was seriously hurt during a Davis car accident. The Davis Police Department (DPD) reports that the accident occurred in the evening in the northwest area of the city. Updated information on the condition of the injured cyclist has not yet been released and the cause of the incident is being investigated.
Crash Information
According to DPD, a 48-year-old woman was riding her bicycle on Russell Boulevard near Portage Bay East at around 6:45 p.m. At this time, she was struck by an oncoming gray Toyota Prius at the intersection of the two roads. Details about the circumstances of the crash reported by DPD were sparse.
After medical responders arrived at the scene of the accident, they found that the woman had sustained a head injury. She was placed on a ground ambulance and driven to the Kaiser Hospital in East Vacaville to receive medical treatment. No other individuals were injured during this accident.
Investigation of Davis Car Crash
As DPD conducts an investigation into possible causes of this accident, no likely factors have been reported. Bicyclist/vehicle accidents happen often, especially in a city like Davis, and can be caused by multiple factors. Furthermore, there are many common bicyclist/vehicle causes that aren’t things drivers or cyclists are able to control. These include faulty roads, malfunctioning bike or vehicle parts, and more.
Recovering from Head Injuries
Suffering a head injury can have a dramatic effect on your life. People who have what are called “traumatic brain injuries” are likely to suffer from a wide range of different symptoms. These symptoms can be mild such as nausea or minor headaches. However, often these injuries can cause serious issues like chronic migraines, confusion, difficulty with language, limited mobility, paralysis, and more.
While many people are able to recover from traumatic brain injuries, the recovery process can take a long time because neural tissue is slow to regenerate. Furthermore, these injuries can get worse before they get better and it may take weeks or even months for symptoms to fully develop. The best thing you can do to make sure you are able to recover from a traumatic brain injury is to seek medical help directly after suffering a blow to the head.
Calling a Personal Injury Attorney
Not only is recovering from an injury physically and mentally difficult, it’s also expensive. People who’ve survived accidents may need extensive medical care that often includes physical therapy sessions, medications, surgeries, and more. In order to make sure that you are able to afford the care you deserve, it’s important to have help from a Davis injury lawyer. An experienced attorney will be able to help you hold negligent parties responsible for the damages you suffered in order to ensure you have the funds you need to move forward after a major injury.
