Teenager Killed in Shasta Lake Car Accident
On Monday, March 2, 2020, a teenage woman tragically lost her life in a Shasta Lake car accident. County authorities have not yet released the identity of the decedent pending her family’s notification. According to details reported by California Highway Patrol (CHP), only a single vehicle was discovered at the collision scene, and no other individuals were injured during the crash. This terrible collision is still being actively investigated by local authorities.
Crash Details
The accident occurred sometime in the early morning on Highway Interstate 5 near Shasta Dam Boulevard on the northern side of the city of Shasta Lake. CHP indicated that they first received a call indicating a wrecked vehicle on the side of the highway at around 5:20 a.m. The caller reported a sedan crashed into a grove of trees with its headlights still on.
When emergency officials arrived at the location of the collision, they discovered that the vehicle was an older model Dodge Neon and had sustained “significant intrusion damage.” The driver was found sitting in the passenger seat with her seatbelt on. Additionally, police stated that the airbags of the vehicle had been activated. Tragically, the 19-year-old woman was declared deceased at the collision scene.
Investigation
As police continue to investigate this accident, no suspected collision factors have been mentioned. In many cases, accidents like this one are caused by more than one thing, and many single-vehicle crash factors can’t be controlled by drivers. These factors include phantom vehicles, hazardous roads, defective car parts, and more.
Furthermore, investigating an accident for which the only driver has passed away can be very difficult for police. Because the driver can’t tell investigators what happened, police are liable to overlook crucial evidence that could help your family obtain compensation. To make sure the crash is investigated with your family in mind, you should reach out to a local wrongful death lawyer who knows how to privately investigate serious car accidents.
Recovering After a Fatal Accident
The pain and emotional shock that people experience after losing someone in a crash can be immense. For many, trying to cope with their grief can be overwhelming, and focusing on your normal life can seem almost impossible. This is all normal and understandable, and it’s very important that grieving people treat themselves with care as well as get support from their loved ones and community members.
However, the parties responsible for causing the accident typically aren’t experiencing the same grief and act quickly in order to avoid paying for damages. For this reason, it’s vital to reach out for help from an attorney as soon as you are able. If your lawyer can begin working on your case early on, they can more effectively ensure that responsible parties are held liable for your personal and financial damages. Furthermore, knowing that your case is being handled by a professional can allow you and your family to focus on spending time together and beginning the process of healing after such a traumatic loss.
