Davis Man Seriously Hurt During Sonoma County Crash
On Sunday, July 26, 2020, a Davis man suffered major injuries, and one other person was hurt during an auto accident in Sonoma County. California Highway Patrol (CHP) has reported that one of the drivers involved in the accident has been placed under arrest on suspicion of DUI. Updates on the condition of the injured Davis man have not been reported.
Crash Details
The collision took place at about 10:23 p.m. on Highway 116 at the intersection of Stage Gulch Road in a rural area of Sonoma County. According to police, a 37-year-old man from Ashford, Connecticut, was driving his Chevy Impala south on 116 when, for reasons that are currently unknown, his vehicle veered to the left and crossed into northbound traffic.
After the Impala entered northbound traffic, it collided head-on with a Ford Focus being driven by a 22-year-old man from Davis, causing extensive damage to both vehicles.
Response
CHP sent responders to the scene directly after receiving news of the accident. When they arrived, response officials found that the Ford driver was pinned inside of his wrecked car. Emergency responders extricated the Ford driver and found that he had suffered critical trauma. The man was reportedly transported via helicopter ambulance to the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
The driver of the Impala was reportedly driven to the Memorial Hospital for unspecified trauma and was given treatment and subsequently released. CHP stated that the Impala driver was placed under arrest early on Monday morning on charges of DUI causing great bodily injuries as well as possession of controlled substances and paraphernalia.
