Woman in Crosswalk Hit by Bus
On February 25, 2016, a tragic pedestrian accident involving a bus occurred at Fifth and N Streets in Sacramento.
What Happened?
An El Dorado Transit Bus hit a pedestrian. An unidentified woman was struck by a bus as she proceeded through a crosswalk. The devastating accident happened as she was crossing N Street. Witnesses said the tragic incident caused the woman to be dragged underneath the bus about 40 feet down the roadway.
What Caused This Tragedy?
No cause has been released. An investigation must be performed to determine the cause. Initial reporting indicated the bus was completing a turn from Fifth Street onto N Street. Some witnesses stated the female pedestrian was not distracted as she proceeded through the crosswalk on N Street. So far, investigators have not said much about the cause. There was a security camera on a corner building near the accident scene. Investigators will likely utilize this valuable footage.
