Chico Man Killed in Motorcycle Accident
Authorities reported that a 27-year-old man from Chico lost his life after he was involved in an auto accident while riding his motorcycle on Monday, June 3, 2019. The accident involved two vehicles including the man’s motorcycle and a large Dodge pickup truck. According to California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash remains under investigation. Authorities of Butte County have not yet released the decedent’s full identity pending the notification of his family. Additionally, no further injuries were reported to have been caused by the collision. I would like to express my sympathy to the loved ones of the fatally injured motorcyclist who are currently mourning such a tragic loss.
Crash Information
According to officers, the collision happened at about 11:00 a.m. on Centerville Road around six miles outside of Chico. The motorcyclist had been driving south on Centerville road approaching the intersection of China Camp road. Ahead of the motorcyclist, a 2007 Dodge pickup was also heading south while hauling a trailer loaded with a large wood chipper. For reasons that are not currently understood, the motorcyclist collided with the trailer. Further details about the collision have not been released by CHP so far.
Response
CHP stated that they sent emergency responders to the crash scene immediately. When responders arrived, they discovered that the motorcyclist suffered critical injuries during the accident. Sadly, medical officials could not revive the man and he was declared deceased before he could be placed on an ambulance. The driver of the Dodge, identified as a 42-year-old man from Chico, was reportedly not injured during the incident.
Investigation
As CHP continues to investigate possible causes of this accident, officers have stated that they are currently unsure of whether or not drugs or alcohol were involved.
