Child Hurt During Boating Accident on Lake Shasta

On Saturday, August 1, 2020, a child suffered injuries during a boating accident on Lake Shasta. According to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), the incident took place in the evening, and the child had been on a boat with his uncle and two siblings. Officials stated that the injured child did not suffer severe trauma and was expected to fully recover. The cause of the accident is being investigated by local authorities.

Accident Details

The SCSO reportedly received a phone call reporting a boat accident on the McCloud arm of Lake Shasta shortly before 5:00 p.m. According to reports, a 34-year-old man from Sacramento had been involved in an accident involving a rental boat from the Holiday Harbor Marina. Deputies sent to respond to the accident found an unoccupied ski boat that had traveled around 37 feet up an embankment on the edge of the lake.

SCSO indicated that they determined the man and his nephews had received a ride back to Holiday Harbor Marina. At the Marina, the man reportedly told officers about what occurred, and the injured child was given medical care.

Investigation

As SCSO continues its investigation into the accident, all of the involved accident factors have not yet been determined. SCSO indicated that the boat rental company would be recovering the vessel for investigation over the next couple of days. Additionally, officials have asked for accident witnesses to get in touch with SCSO to aid in the investigation. Callers can use the number (530) 245-6540 to speak with a Deputy.

Injuries and Children

Even moderate accident injuries can have a major effect on your life, and children are particularly vulnerable. Because their bodies are still growing, an accident injury can affect a child’s development, possibly leading to chronic health issues. In order to recover fully from accident injuries, children often need long-term medical care that may include physical therapy, medications, or even surgeries. All of these can be highly expensive, and medical bills may seem overwhelming to families with injured children.

Calling a Lawyer

However, many people can obtain money to cover these damages and more through personal injury claims. A personal injury claim is meant to hold responsible groups and individuals financially liable after accidents and can provide compensation for a variety of important losses.

While these claims can help families in need, it’s important to know that not all injury cases are simple, and liable parties may try to escape financial responsibility. In order to make sure that you are able to obtain the payments you deserve, it is critical to reach out for advice from an experienced Shasta Lake personal injury attorney. If your lawyer decides to pursue your case, they will be able to investigate the accident, negotiate with insurance companies, and make sure you and your family are fairly compensated.
