Corning Car Crash Severely Injures Two People
Two people suffered severe trauma during a Corning car crash that took place on Tuesday, June 16, 2020. The collision reportedly involved two passenger vehicles and happened in the late morning. The two seriously injured individuals were both in hospital custody as of the latest available reports. The Corning Police Department (CPD) is currently investigating possible causes of this crash.
Collision Information
The accident happened at 10:55 a.m. at the intersection of Gallagher and Edith Avenues just off of Highway Interstate 5 in the northern part of the city of Corning. According to CPD, a 56-year-old Red Bluff woman was driving in a 1998 GMC SUV southbound on Edith Avenue when, for unknown reasons, her vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign located at the Gallagher Avenue intersection. At this time, a 22-year-woman from Corning was driving through the intersection on Gallagher in a 2014 Acura SUV. The GMC reportedly crashed head-on into the broadside of the Acura.
Response
When responders from local emergency agencies arrived at the accident site, they discovered that the driver of the GMC and her 59-year-old passenger were both seriously injured during the crash. Both individuals were driven via ambulance to the St. Elizabeth Community Hospital, where they were given emergency treatment before being transferred to the Enloe Medical Center in Chico for further care. The driver of the Acura was reportedly uninjured during the incident.
Investigation
As CPD officers are attempting to understand what could have caused this collision, no likely factors have been identified in reports. Collisions like this one can be complex and often involve more than one causal factor. Furthermore, many of these factors are things that drivers have no ability to control. Non-driver causes in car accidents can include common things like defective auto parts, dangerous roads, and more.
Recovering from a Serious Crash Injury
Recovering your health after being seriously hurt during an auto accident can be very difficult. Many crash survivors face a long and painful recovery process that takes months or even years. Furthermore, recovery often requires extensive medical care, including physical therapy, surgeries, medication use, and more. All of this medical care can add up to a very large expense, and many crash survivors are unsure of how they will be able to afford to heal from their injuries.
For this reason, it’s very important to have help from an experienced attorney. In many cases, it’s possible for collision survivors to obtain full compensation for the damages they have suffered by filing an injury claim. However, these cases can be complicated, and it is always best to make sure that you have advice from a professional Corning personal injury lawyer before deciding to take any action.
