Crash Near Lake Almanor Seriously Hurts Chico Woman
On Sunday, September 27, 2020, a Chico woman suffered major injuries during a vehicle accident that occurred near Lake Almanor. California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the accident happened in the late afternoon and involved multiple vehicles. In addition to the injured woman, one other person, also a Chico resident, suffered injuries during the incident.
Collision Details
CHP reports state that this crash happened at around 3:41 p.m. on the eastbound side of Highway 36, not far from the junction at Highway 89 near the small community of Chester. A 21-year-old woman from Chico was driving east in a 2008 Subaru. At the same time, a 28-year-old man from Chico was driving westbound on the same highway with a 33-year-old woman and two small children in a 2017 Ford F-150.
Information from CHP indicates that, for unknown reasons, the Subaru drifted to the left and entered westbound traffic lanes. As the Subaru crossed over the highway median, it entered the path of the Ford, and the two vehicles collided. The crash caused both vehicles to spin out in a counter-clockwise direction. Both the Subaru and the Ford finally came to a stop on the southern roadway shoulder.
Response
When responders arrived at the accident scene, they discovered the Subaru driver was trapped inside of her vehicle. Firefighters extricated the woman from the wreckage and determined that she had sustained major injuries. The woman was transported via ambulance to the Chester airport where she was placed on a helicopter and flown to the Enloe Medical Center for immediate treatment. Police indicated that the woman had been wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The female passenger of the Ford reportedly complained to responders of pain in her right forearm. The woman was evaluated and treated on-site. Neither the driver nor the two young passengers of the Ford suffered injuries. Police stated that both adults in the Ford were wearing seatbelts and that the children were properly restrained in car seats.
Recovering from a Major Injury
Car accidents can involve tons of force and frequently leave people with life-changing injuries. The recovery process for major accident injuries can take a long time and may involve numerous medical treatments. Not only is recovering from an accident injury painful as well as mentally stressful, but it’s also often very expensive. The expenses related to injury treatment can be steep and may be difficult to afford. Paying for medical care can be even harder for people whose injuries have left them unable to earn an income.
Thankfully, it’s possible to obtain payment for these damages by filing an injury claim. Through injury claims, crash survivors can frequently obtain full compensation for medical bills, lost income, and other expenses like damaged property or personal suffering.
