Driver Arrested Following Hit-and-Run Crash in Napa
On Monday, December 14, 2020, California Highway Patrol (CHP) apprehended and arrested a motorist following a hit-and-run crash in Napa. The crash reportedly occurred shortly before the arrest and involved three vehicles, ultimately sending two individuals to the hospital with non-life-threatening trauma. The driver remains in the custody of the Napa County jail on possible felony charges of hit-and-run and driving under the influence.
Crash Information
The accident happened at about 8:40 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 12 and 29 on the southern end of Napa, not far from the airport. According to police, a vehicle rear-ended a car that was stopped at a red light at the intersection. The crash pushed the car forward into a third vehicle. Following the accident, the driver of the first vehicles pulled away and fled the scene.
Officers later flagged down the driver on Highway 121 in the area of Stanley Lane and placed him under arrest. The individual was identified as a 28-year-old man from Sonoma.
Emergency Response
CHP dispatched a response team to the accident site right after receiving reports regarding the incident. Arriving medical officials found that two people were injured and had both of them transported to the Queen of the Valley Medical Center for treatment of non-severe injuries and screening for further trauma.
Car Accident Injuries and Delayed Symptoms
Auto accident injuries can have a big impact on your life. Even injuries that seem relatively minor directly after the accident occurs may develop into serious health issues. Typically, those involved in accidents are initially in a state of shock, and their adrenaline spikes. Because adrenaline reduces pain response, those injured in auto accidents often don’t realize that they’ve been seriously hurt until hours after the crash.
In other cases, injuries develop over time. This is especially true for traumatic brain injuries, which can continue to develop for months after an accident occurs. Without proper treatment, these injuries can worsen and, often, cause secondary injuries or possibly fatal complications. Another example of an injury that can worsen over time is any damage to the spinal cord, which can become extremely painful and even debilitating over a matter of months or years.
Calling an Attorney
No matter what kind of injury you’ve suffered, an accident is likely to be expensive. Crash survivors usually need to pay for a variety of medical costs, including medicines, ambulances, diagnostics, and more. All of these things often add up to a considerable amount of money. If your injuries have made it hard to do your job, paying for these costs might seem impossible.
For these reasons, it’s always important to call a Napa car accident lawyer and get expert advice about your situation. A good lawyer can help you understand what compensation you can seek through a personal injury claim.
