Driver Hospitalized After Auburn Area Crash
On Monday, November 11, 2019, an Auburn area crash left one person with serious injuries. Officers of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) indicated that this collision only involved one vehicle and took place at a rural highway location. The injured individual was hospitalized, but updates on their condition remain unavailable. Additionally, no other individuals were reported to have sustained injuries during the collision. The accident is under an active investigation being conducted by CHP.
Crash Information
The collision took place before sunrise on Highway 49 just outside of North Auburn near the Atwood Road intersection. Reports indicated that a vehicle of unreported make and model drove off of the road and traveled a short distance before striking a tree. Cal Fire responded to the accident, and when they arrived at the scene, they found that the vehicle’s driver was trapped inside the wreck. Responders extricated the man from his vehicle using special machinery before placing him on an ambulance and sending him to a local hospital to receive immediate medical care. Reports from medical officials indicated that the driver’s injuries were serious, but not life-threatening.
Investigation
As officers look into what factors could have been involved in the crash, no suspected factors have been officially reported. In many collisions involving only one vehicle, the accident is caused by a factor that the driver cannot control. These factors can include a defective vehicle part such as a faulty steering wheel, weak tires, or malfunctioning brakes as well as roadway hazards, including large potholes, lack of proper signage, oil spills, and more.
Emergency Extrication
Being trapped in a vehicle is dangerous, and the extrication process is liable to cause injuries. In some cases, extrication machinery can impinge on a person’s arm or leg while responders are attempting to free them from the vehicle. In other cases, being trapped in a vehicle can delay the immediate medical attention people need for traumatic brain injuries, internal trauma, and other serious conditions. This delay in treatment can cause injuries to become even worse.
Recovery After Accident Injuries
If you were injured in a car crash, it’s very likely that you are wondering how you will be able to recover your physical and mental health after being in such a traumatic accident. Often, the process of recovery can take months or even years, and, during this time, crash survivors need to adjust to a new lifestyle in order to compensate for their injury. All of this can be both stressful and expensive, as hospital bills related to car accident trauma are often steep, and recovering can mean needing to take a significant amount of time off work.
Thankfully, there is help available to survivors of car accidents. Injured parties are often able to receive financial compensation for the full amount of their damages by filing a personal injury claim. If your injury was serious, it’s important to have an attorney who knows how to negotiate with insurers in order to make sure that you receive the full amount you deserve to cover your loss of income, medical bills, emotional distress, and any other losses that you’ve suffered because of the accident. Even if you are unsure about filing a claim, it’s always best to reach out to a professional to get advice about your options before making a decision.
