Driver Suffers Serious Trauma After Crashing Into Chico Building

One person sustained major injuries after crashing into a Chico building on Wednesday, November 18, 2020. The Chico Police Department (CPD) stated that this incident occurred in the afternoon and involved only one car. Additionally, no other individuals were reported to have suffered injuries as a result of the accident. An investigation into the cause of the traumatic crash is ongoing.

Crash Information

According to police, the crash happened at the Jazzercise Chico Fitness Center located on the 100 block of West 17th Street. While details about what occurred before the crash were not available, CPD stated that a passenger vehicle crashed head-on into the broadside of the building. Photos taken at the scene show a large hole in the fitness center as well as extensive damage to the vehicle.

In addition to CPD officers, both Butte County EMS and Chico Fire Crews were sent out to the crash site. When they arrived, responders discovered that the driver of the car was seriously hurt. The individual was placed on an ambulance and driven to the Enloe medical center by responding paramedics. Updates on their condition remained unavailable at the time of reporting.

Investigation

According to reports, CPD is employing their Major Accident Investigation Team in order to fully investigate the possible causes of this traumatic crash. So far, investigating officials have not yet been able to confirm any causal factors.

In single-vehicle accidents like this one, there may be more than one factor that contributed to the crash. Importantly, many of these causes are things like defective car parts or issues with roadway design that drivers have no ability to control. With both of these cases, parties other than the driver may be financially responsible for damages.

Reaching Out to An Attorney

People who’ve been in major car accidents may be left in a hard situation. Often, collision injuries necessitate extensive medical care, which can be very expensive. Paying for the care you need can be especially hard if suffering an injury has affected your income. Furthermore, being injured can be physically painful and mentally stressful, often leaving survivors feeling totally overwhelmed by the prospect of recovering financially and personally.

For these reasons, it’s very important that crash survivors call a personal injury lawyer as soon as they possibly can. Often, attorneys are able to help people obtain payments that fully cover not only their medical bills, but their lost income, damaged property, and personal suffering as well. This is possible by filing personal injury claims and holding at-fault groups or individuals and/or insurance companies financially responsible. To learn further details about what payments might be available to you for your losses, it’s important to have personal advice from an expert lawyer.

Finding a Great Lawyer

There are many injury lawyers out there, and nearly all of them want your business. However, many of these attorneys don’t have the right experience or skill to effectively handle your case. To make sure that your lawyer is competent, you can follow the steps outlined in the video below:
