Head-On Accident Injures Four People in Antioch
I’m Ed Smith, an Antioch Car Accident Lawyer. On the late evening of Tuesday, November 21, 2017, there was a two-car collision in the streets of Antioch that left four people hospitalized. Read more below for the full report.
Accident on E. 18th Street
Police statements report that shortly after 8:15 p.m. that night, the accident took place on the intersection of E. 18th Street and Cavallo Street. A Pontiac sedan and a Ford pickup truck struck each other head first. Police said that all four occupants of the Pontiac were sent to nearby hospitals via ambulance for their sustained injuries.
Apparently those who were hospitalized are all currently declared to be in stable conditions. Because this accident is so recent, police have yet to publicly release detailed information regarding the severity of the injuries endured.
While this two-car collision is still under investigation, police reports state that it is plausible that alcohol may have been involved in this accident.
Information on Head-On Car Accidents
Having two (or more) cars hit each other with the front-end of their vehicles is widely regarded as one of the scariest – not to mention deadly – types of accidents.
Head-on collisions generally involve two vehicles. However, they can also occur between one car and an object, such as a utility pole or a tree. These accidents can often be life-threatening, resulting in a ton of different types of injuries.
These accidents most commonly happen on rural roads, neighborhood roads, and any other path without a median to act as a barrier that prevents cars from opposite directions running into one another. The Fatal Analysis Reporting System (FARS) released a 1999 report where 75% of head-on wrecks on two lane roads without dividers.
Below is a list of factors that have caused head-on fatal accidents:
- Distracted driving
- Losing control of car
- Fatigued driving
- Driving under the influence (DUI)
- Poor weather conditions
- Ignoring traffic signs
- Brake failure
Head-On Car Accident Injuries
Injuries that result from the aftermath of a head-on car wreck typically depend on the amount of safety measures that were being follow by those in the car, so those with their seat belt on usually receive significant less physical damage than those without. Here are some common injuries from head-on auto accidents:
- Head & brain trauma
- Whiplash
- Neck & back trauma
- Broken bones
- Lacerations
- Contusions
- Concussion
- Airbag injuries
