Injuries Sustained in Redding Area Truck Accident

On Saturday, January 30, 2021, at least one person was left with serious injuries after a Redding area truck accident. The collision was reported by Shasta area California Highway Patrol (CHP) and officers indicated that it involved only a single semi truck. Updates on the medical condition of the injured person(s) have not been released and the accident’s cause remains under official investigation at this time.

Collision Details

According to CHP traffic reports, the crash happened at around 11:32 p.m. on Highway 299 around two miles outside of Redding. A big-rig was traveling in the eastbound lane of the highway when for unknown reasons, it overturned, eventually coming to a stop on its side on the southern roadway shoulder. Further details about the circumstances of the collision weren’t reported.

Accident witnesses reportedly contacted CHP regarding the incident and responders were subsequently sent to the scene. According to reports, responders arrived at around 11:46 p.m. At the site, authorities found that at least a single person had sustained serious trauma and called for an ambulance to hospitalize the injured individual(s).

Investigation

As the investigation of this traumatic crash continues, involved officers haven’t released information about any suspected causes. Often, collisions similar to this one happen due to issues that lie outside of the truck driver’s control. In many cases, factors like defective truck parts, damaged highway pavement, inadequate signage, and others contribute significantly to accidents and, in these cases, parties other than involved drivers may share financial liability for damages.

Taking Quick Action Following Truck Accidents

Commercial trucks are typically owned by holding companies and these companies usually have their own fleet of vehicles. Because they are operating so many vehicles, the chance of an accident is something that these companies usually prepare for.

Trucking companies will most often take quick, aggressive action to defend themselves against any financial liability for accidents involving their vehicles and will even send legal response teams to crash sites in order to gather their own evidence and witness statements. By doing so, these companies aim to mitigate their responsibility for the crash in the eyes of insurance companies and courts and avoid paying injured parties the full amount of compensation they deserve.

To ensure that you can obtain the payments you need to cover your medical expenses as well as other damages like lost wages and personal suffering, it’s vital to reach out to a Redding truck accident lawyer at your earliest opportunity. If your attorney can begin working on your case immediately, they’ll be more able to ensure that you receive the payments you are owed.
