Modesto Area CHP Traffic Enforcement Efforts

I’m Ed Smith, a Modesto car accident lawyer. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has increased traffic enforcement along Highway 108 and 120 in Stanislaus County in light of three fatal auto accidents last month. CHP officers have teamed up to monitor the area closely for unsafe driving, including those traveling above the posted speed limit.

CHP Enforcement Results

The Modesto Area CHP has increased their efforts in citing drivers for traffic violations related to unsafe driving. The goal of their efforts is to decrease the loss of life along a deadly stretch of Highway 108 and 120 near Knights Ferry.

Recent Auto Accident Fatalities

In January 2018, three auto accidents in the area mentioned above claimed the lives of three parties. On January 4, 2018, a 23-year-old man lost control of his Jeep Grand Cherokee while traveling around a curve along Highway 108 and Kennedy Road. The Jeep veered over the double yellow lanes and in the direct path of a Chevrolet Tahoe, which resulted in a serious head-on collision. The man, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. On January 18, 2018, a 20-year-old driving a 2001 Infiniti sedan crossed the double yellow lines of travel and collided with an oncoming 2015 Dodge flatbed truck. This accident, sadly, caused the young man to suffer fatal injuries. The last fatal collision occurred on January 27, 2018, where a 59-year-old Manteca woman lost control of her Harley Davidson motorcycle and reportedly struck an embankment. Sadly, the woman passed away during hospitalization as a result of the motorcycle accident.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones of the three parties that lost their lives in the devastating accidents discussed above.

Auto Accidents and Speeding

Speeding is considered a serious danger to all travelers along U.S. roadways. In fact, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that 9.557 parties were fatally injured in accidents involving speeding in 2015. The consequences of speeding are endless, from traffic violations to civil penalties. There is never a good reason to put yourself and others at risk of serious injury or death. Always exercise due care while traveling along the roadway to ensure the safety of yourself and your loved ones.
