Community Events in Modesto
Modesto residents live close to the major metropolitan area of Sacramento, but don’t necessarily need to leave town in order to attend diverse and exciting community events. A few of our favorite Modesto community events taking place in the coming weeks appear below.
Second Annual Dia de Los Muertos Event
On October 21, 2017, the city of Modesto will be hosting a Dia de Los Muertos event presented by the American GI Forum. The event will take place at 1010 10th Street in Modesto and begins at 11:00 a.m. with festivities continuing all night long.
The event will include local vendors, traditional Mexican dancing (ballet Folklorico), altars built to honor relatives who have passed away, and a parade throughout downtown. Residents of Modesto are invited to attend this free event and celebrate with their neighbors and fellow community members.
Downtown Trunk or Treat
The new American tradition of trunk-or-treating allows parents and children alike to enjoy the festivities of Halloween in a vibrant, colorful, and safe environment. Costumes, classic cars, pumpkin bowling, live music, pumpkin painting, candy, and games for children will all be included in this family-oriented event.
Trunk-or-Treating will begin at 5:30 p.m. and continue until 8:00 p.m. at 1010 10th Street in Modesto on October 27, 2017. Families are encouraged to bring their children in costume.
CASA Superhero 5K Walk/Run
Residents of Modesto are invited to participate in CASA’s charity walk. Proceeds from the walk will benefit Court Appointed Special Advocate, a non-profit organization that gives a voice to neglected and abused children in Stanislaus County foster homes. CASA has caring, qualified volunteers who get to know children personally and make recommendations to courts based on the kids’ best interests.
The event will begin at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 22, in East La Loma Park at 2001 Edgebrook Drive in Modesto. Those attending are encouraged to wear superhero costumes during the event.
The Summoning Street Party
This Modesto street party, presented by Halloween Modesto, will feature more than a dozen Halloween themed party rooms as well as free entrance to a haunted house located in the 11th Street Garage. The event will include Frankenstein Vs. Vampire (a wrestling match between the two horror heavyweights), a zombie prom, pumpkin carving contests, live music performances from local metal bands, performances from professional illusionists, and much more.
The event begins at 7:00 p.m. on October 28, 2017, at 11th Street Garage in Modesto. Tickets cost $10 and $20 for a fast-pass ticket. Attendees are required to be over the age of 21 and will need to provide valid ID
