Deadly Motorcycle Collision Near Fort Bragg
On Thursday, October 8, 2020, one person suffered fatal injuries During a motorcycle collision near Fort Bragg. The decedent has been identified by authorities of the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office as James Kennemore, a 77-year-old man and resident of the state of Arizona. No other individuals were involved in the collision, and California Highway Patrol (CHP) is actively conducting an investigation into this incident.
Crash Information
The collision reportedly happened at around 8:00 a.m. on Highway 1 near the small community of Newport a few miles north of Fort Bragg. CHP reports that Kennemore was driving south on a 2016 Harley Davidson Triglide motorcycle. For unknown reasons, the motorcycle drifted to the right and eventually drove off the eastern edge of the highway. After leaving the asphalt, the motorcycle crashed into a tree and rolled over, eventually falling a considerable distance into a nearby creek.
Response and Investigation
Responders arrived at the accident site and discovered that Kennemore had sustained major trauma. Sadly, officials pronounced him deceased at the scene. Police indicated that he had been properly wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
After conducting preliminary investigations, CHP stated that they do not believe DUI was involved in the crash. However, no suspected collision causes have been reported by police so far. Motorcycle accidents happen often and can be caused by a large variety of factors. Furthermore, a number of common motorcycle crash factors are non-driver causes like defective bike parts or serious roadway hazards like damaged pavement or lack of signage.
Calling an Attorney
Police investigating fatal accidents face a number of challenges. Without the ability to interview drivers about the incident, police may be left with an incomplete picture of the crash. Sadly, this might mean that at-fault parties are never implicated and cannot be held financially responsible for people whose lives have been affected by the accident. To ensure your family is able to claim the payments they deserve, it’s critical to work with an attorney who has experience conducting private collision investigations. A skilled lawyer will be able to look into the incident while prioritizing your family’s needs.
Wrongful Death Damages
The sudden loss of a family member can have a devastating effect on your family. Not only do people in this situation deal with intense grief, but a fatal accident can also cause major financial issues. In many cases, losing a family member means losing an income source that you rely on to pay your bills. In other cases, you may lose access to important services like home maintenance or childcare.
To ensure that your family has financial security during a difficult period, it is important to contact a lawyer at your earliest opportunity. If a lawyer can begin working on your case quickly, they will be more able to help your family obtain compensation for lost income and services as well as for personal suffering damages.
