Multiple Vehicle Accident Injures One in Vallejo

Authorities reported that one person suffered major injuries during a vehicle accident in Vallejo on Tuesday, June 25, 2019. According to officers from the Vallejo Police Department (VPD), the accident involved two vehicles on a municipal road. The seriously injured person was identified as a 65-year-old man from Vallejo. The man was reportedly hospitalized after being rescued. However, updates on his collision remain unavailable. VPD says that they are actively investigating this crash.

Accident Details

Police reports indicate that the accident occurred shortly before 6:00 p.m. at Valle Vista Avenue and Broadway Street. A Chevrolet Corvette had been traveling east on Valle Vista behind a Nissan Pathfinder. Just before reaching the Broadway Street intersection, the Nissan reportedly slowed down. The Corvette failed to slow down to avoid the SUV and drove underneath it. As a result, both vehicles spun out into the intersection, with the Nissan resting on top of the Corvette.

Response

Police were contacted directly after the crash and immediately sent responders to the area. When emergency officials arrived, they found that the weight of the Nissan had caused the roof of the Corvette to collapse, leaving the driver trapped inside his vehicle. Firefighters conducted an extended extrication operation to remove the man from the wrecked vehicle. The extrication reportedly took around half an hour to complete.

Once the man was removed from his vehicle, medics determined that he had suffered severe trauma and had him rushed to an area hospital for emergency care. According to police, the 40-year-old Vallejo driver of the Nissan was not seriously hurt during the accident.

Investigation

As police continue investigating this accident, there have not been any reports regarding what factors officers believe may have been involved.
