Napa Motorcyclist Suffers Serious Trauma During Auto Accident
On Thursday, October 22, 2020, a Napa motorcyclist suffered serious trauma as the result of a local car accident. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to the accident and indicated that it involved two vehicles, a motorcycle and a large van. The motorcyclist was hospitalized following the incident, and updates on his health condition remain unavailable at this time. No other parties suffered injuries during the incident.
Crash Details
Police indicated that the accident happened at about noon on Highway 29 near the intersection of Hoffman Lane. A 31-year-old man from Napa was driving a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle south on the highway when a northbound Ford van being driven by a 55-year-old Fairfield resident made a left turn. As the van performed the turn, it entered the path of the motorcycle. The motorcyclist crashed directly into the broadside of the van.
Police were sent to the crash scene directly after the accident was reported to CHP. Emergency officials reaching the scene found that the motorcyclist was seriously hurt. The motorcyclist was placed on a ground ambulance and rushed to the Queen of the Valley Hospital for immediate treatment. Specific details about his injuries were not reported.
Investigation
As CHP investigates this crash, officers have reported that they do not suspect that either of the motorists had been intoxicated at the time of the accident. However, police have also not mentioned any likely causal factors. Many different factors can be involved in motorcycle accidents like this one, and not all of them are under motorist control. Examples of non-motorist crash causes include defective brakes, tires, or other car parts, as well as hazardous roads.
Motorcyclist Injuries
Most motorcyclists do everything they can to keep themselves safe, including wearing armored jackets and boots, gloves, helmets, and other protective gear. However, even with all of this protection, they are still very vulnerable and often sustain major injuries during accidents, especially ones that involve larger vehicles.
These injuries can have a major impact on motorcyclists’ lives and frequently require extensive medical treatment. Many common motorcyclist injuries require surgeries, long-term medication use, physical therapy sessions, and more. All of these procedures can be expensive and, taken altogether, can cause people to worry about how they’ll pay for the medical care that they need.
Calling an Attorney
Fortunately, motorcycle accident survivors can reach out for help from an attorney. By working with an attorney and filing a personal injury claim, injured motorcyclists are often able to claim the full amount of payments they need to cover their hospital bills as well as make up for lost wages, damaged property, and other losses. However, the injury claim process can be difficult, and liable parties may try to avoid financial responsibility. For these reasons, it’s critical to have an attorney on your side.
