One Dead Following Napa Motorcycle Accident
A Napa motorcycle accident left one person with fatal trauma on Sunday, April 12, 2020. According to officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP), this incident occurred during the early evening and involved only a single vehicle. Napa County officials are currently withholding the decedent’s identity pending family notification. Additionally, this accident is under an active CHP investigation.
Collision Information
The collision occurred at around 4:55 p.m. in an unincorporated area of Napa County on State Route 128. The motorcyclist had been driving his vehicle on the highway around two miles to the west of Steel Canyon Resort near the southern edge of Lake Berryessa when, for unknown reasons, his motorcycle traveled off the road. The motorcyclist was discovered next to his vehicle on the ground inside of the highway’s right-hand shoulder.
After emergency response staff reached the location of the crash, they determined that the motorcyclist was critically injured. Tragically, the individual passed away as a result of their injuries.
Investigation
The roadway was closed for around two hours in both directions while officers responded to the accident and conducted a preliminary investigation of the site. As investigations into possible causes continue, no likely factors have been reported. Single-vehicle motorcycle accidents can happen for a wide variety of reasons and frequently involve multiple factors. Furthermore, many of the factors that cause single-vehicle accidents are things that riders are unable to control, like malfunctioning motorcycle parts or serious issues with the road.
