One Injured During Fiery Car Crash Near Magalia
On Saturday, September 26, 2020, one person suffered severe injuries during a car crash near Magalia. The collision was reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP), who indicated that the incident involved one car and caused a vegetation fire in the area. Firefighters were able to contain the fire before it affected a significant amount of land. The cause of this crash is still being investigated.
Crash Details
The collision happened sometime in the morning and was reported to CAL Fire in Butte County just before noon off Skyway near Magalia. According to reports, it took responders some time to locate the crashed vehicle. When officials reached the crash scene, they discovered that one vehicle occupant had been seriously injured and had him transported to a nearby hospital for emergency care. Further details about the individual’s injuries and condition have not been reported.
Firefighters responding to the incident determined that the car had caught fire, spreading flames to nearby vegetation. Thankfully, firefighters were able to put out the fire after it had spread to a size of around 30 square feet.
Investigation
While police have not reported much information about the events leading up to this accident, a full CHP investigation into the incident is underway. So far, investigating officers have not yet indicated what factors could have been involved. Single-vehicle accidents may only involve one car, but they often are complicated and involve multiple causal factors. Furthermore, many common accidents are outside of driver control, like issues with defective vehicle parts or hazardous road conditions.
Burn Injuries
Accidents involving car fires pose a serious risk of burn injuries. Burns can be one of the most severe types of car accident injuries and frequently have a huge impact on the lives of survivors. Because burn injuries are very destructive to tissue, they typically have a longer recovery period than many other types of trauma. Often, burn injuries require extensive treatment, and survivors need to undergo multiple surgeries. While burn trauma is very serious, there are many excellent options for treatment and pain management, and many survivors are able to recover and move on with their lives.
However, these treatments can be prohibitively expensive. Affording the necessary medical care for burn injuries can be even harder if being injured has affected your ability to earn an income.
