One Person Suffers Major Trauma During Oroville Pedestrian Accident

On Tuesday, September 29, 2020, one person was seriously hurt during an Oroville pedestrian accident. California Highway Patrol (CHP) stated that the incident happened on the northern side of the city and involved a pedestrian as well as multiple vehicles. Updates on the injured pedestrian’s condition are not yet available, and the crash remains under CHP investigation at this time.

Incident Details

The accident happened at around 7:27 p.m. on State Route 70 near the Montgomery Street Offramp. According to police, a male pedestrian entered the highway for unknown reasons, traveling into the path of an oncoming vehicle. A passenger car collided with the pedestrian, knocking him to the ground. Shortly after, a second vehicle reportedly traveled over the injured pedestrian.

Response

The crash was reported to police right away, and CHP immediately dispatched response officials to the site. When they reached the scene, medical responders found that the pedestrian was seriously injured and had him rushed to a local hospital via ambulance. CHP indicated that both drivers involved in the crash stopped and cooperated with officers. No other individuals were reported to have suffered an injury as the result of this accident.

Investigation

While investigators are currently trying to understand the causal factors of this accident, no likely causes have been reported. Pedestrian collisions often happen due to more than one cause, and many common crash factors can’t be controlled by pedestrians or drivers. These factors include things such as dangerously designed roads and/or defective car parts.

Pedestrian Injuries

Vehicle occupants are protected by safety features designed to reduce the likelihood of serious injuries during accidents. On the contrary, pedestrians have very little protection and are highly likely to suffer major trauma as a result of a crash. Even in accidents involving slow-moving vehicles, pedestrians can sustain very severe injuries. These can include traumatic brain injuries, internal damage, bone fractures, trauma to the spinal cord, and more.

Many common pedestrian injuries can have a huge impact on your life. Injured pedestrians are often in a lot of pain and face a difficult road to regaining their health. In severe cases, individuals are left with chronic health issues such as impacted cognition or limited mobility. Furthermore, these issues can affect your ability to perform activities you care about or even earn an income.

Calling a Lawyer

Car crash survivors face some serious challenges. However, it is possible to get help. By calling an attorney, many people who suffer car accident injuries can obtain the funds they need to pay for medical care as well as make up for other damages like lost income, loss of quality of life, and more.

However, these cases are often very complicated, and the at-fault parties may attempt to disclaim responsibility for damages. Because of this, it’s critical to reach out to an Oroville personal injury lawyer right away. The sooner an attorney can start working on building your case, the more effectively they can ensure you receive the payments you need.
