Rear-End Crash in Eureka Causes Serious Injuries

On Thursday, January 7, 2021, one person suffered injuries during a car crash in Eureka. The Eureka Police Department (EPD) has stated that the accident happened in the early afternoon and involved two vehicles. Updates on the condition of the injured party have not yet been provided by medical officials, and the accident is reportedly still under investigation by EPD.

Crash Details

EPD officers stated that the collision happened shortly before 1:00 p.m. A small, black sedan was driving on 4th street in the central area of Eureka when, for unknown reasons, it collided with the rear-end of a white pickup with a camper shell. Photos of the crash show damage to both of the vehicles.

After the incident occurred, witnesses contacted police, who sent response officials to the site. Responders reaching the location found that a 63-year-old woman had been injured and was having trouble breathing. An ambulance was called to the scene, but whether or not the woman was hospitalized was not reported.

Investigation

Two lanes of 4th Street were closed to traffic while response and initial investigations of the accident scene took place. Reportedly, the shut-down caused traffic delays for around an hour. So far, EPD officers involved with investigating this traumatic crash haven’t stated what factors they think were involved.

Accidents like this one may appear to be simple, but often involve multiple causes. Importantly, many car accidents happen due to factors that neither driver has any reasonable ability to control. These kinds of factors include failing brake systems, damaged pavement, and more. In cases that involve non-driver accident factors, parties such as government entities or vehicle manufacturers may be considered financially responsible for collision damages.

Accident Injuries

Even if the injury doesn’t appear severe at the scene of the crash, many common accident injuries take weeks or months to fully develop and may cause secondary injuries or lead to serious complications if left untreated. For this reason, it’s always important to see a doctor as soon as you can if you’ve been involved in a crash.

Furthermore, being injured in a crash can have a major impact on your life. Many people who sustain injuries in accidents need to pay for expensive medical treatments, possibly including ambulance rides, hospital stays, medications, physical therapy, and more. Furthermore, being injured may leave you unable to do your job, possibly resulting in a major loss of income. People facing these issues may worry that they won’t be able to continue living their normal lives.

Calling a Lawyer

Thankfully, crash survivors can call for help from a Eureka personal injury lawyer. A skilled attorney can help you understand what compensation you may be able to obtain for your economic and personal damages, and many accident survivors can obtain full compensation by filing personal injury claims.
