Redding Crash Hospitalizes Three
The Redding Police Department (RPD) stated that a car accident occurred on Saturday, December 15, 2018, injuring three people. Two of the injured individuals reportedly suffered severe trauma, but all three were transported to a nearby hospital to receive care. Updates regarding the conditions of the two severely injured accident survivors have not been released by hospital staff so far. Additionally, RPD said they are not sure what factors may have been involved in the accident and are currently conducting an investigation into possible collision causes.
Accident Details
RPD’s reports stated that the crash happened in Redding at Hilltop Drive near the intersection of Lake Boulevard just outside of Bartels Giant Burger. At about 10:30 a.m., a pickup truck was traveling northbound on Hilltop when the vehicle suddenly swerved, crossing over the roadway median and entering oncoming traffic lanes. After entering the southbound lane, the pickup truck traveled into the path of an oncoming white station wagon and the two vehicles struck each other head-on. After crashing, officers said that the pickup flipped over one full time and came to rest upright.
Injuries
Emergency personnel who responded to the accident reported that nobody in the truck was injured during the crash. However, all three people in the station wagon received injuries. Details about the specific nature of the injuries, including whether or not any were life-threatening, were not included in reports.
Investigation
Officers shut down part of Hilltop drive for around two hours while they investigated the area for evidence and took statements. However, why the pickup veered into oncoming traffic has not been determined. Officers did not state whether or not they suspect driving under the influence to be a factor. Factors that commonly cause accidents such as this one include medical emergencies, distracted driving, defective vehicle parts, and more.
Recovering from a Crash Injury
Many people who suffer car accident injuries have their lives dramatically changed. Crash injuries often cause people a great deal of pain and recovering can be a long, difficult process. People recovering from a crash injury often find that they are no longer able to do activities they enjoy, continue working their job, or even perform necessary tasks like cooking and cleaning. While many are able to regain mobility and strength, car accidents often leave people with life-long symptoms.
While the process of recovery can be hard, crash survivors can make it easier by claiming money to pay for medical expenses, household services, therapy, lost wages, and other costs related to their injury. These payments can often be claimed from parties responsible for the accident. However, determining fault, figuring out how much money you are owed, and dealing with insurance companies can be difficult. In serious injury cases, it is best to have the help of a professional Redding personal injury lawyer to make sure that you are able to recover the full amount of compensation you deserve.
