Rural Marysville Crash Causes Severe Injuries
On Friday, December 11, 2020, one person suffered major injuries during a rural Marysville crash. California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers reported that this accident occurred in the early evening, involved a single passenger vehicle, and happened in a rural area on the far northern edge of the city. While the collision was reported as a major injury accident, police have not yet provided information regarding the number of individuals who suffered trauma. The cause of the incident is still under CHP investigation.
Collision Details
The collision was first reported to CHP at around 5:08 p.m. by a caller who heard the crash but did not see how many vehicles were involved. Police have since indicated that the crash happened on the 9000 block of State Route 70 and identified the involved vehicle as a hybrid sedan of unreported make and model. For unknown reasons, the driver apparently lost control of the car. As a result, the vehicle collided with a power pole and overturned. Further information about the circumstances of the crash haven’t been made available.
Response
Response officials were immediately sent to the scene, and when they arrived, they discovered that at least one occupant of the vehicle had sustained serious injuries. Police reports indicate that one of the vehicle occupants was non-responsive when responders found them. All injured parties were transported to hospitals.
Investigation
As an investigation into this crash continues, officers haven’t mentioned whether or not any particular factors are suspected to have been involved. Even a single-vehicle crash can be a complicated incident and is often caused by more than one thing. Furthermore, it’s common for car accident factors to be things outside of driver control. Such factors can include driving vehicles that have defective steering systems, brakes, or other important components, as well as using roads with poor design or dangerously damaged pavement.
Rollover Accidents and Liability
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that rollover auto accidents are disproportionately likely to involve fatal or severe injuries. One of the primary reasons this is the case is that vehicle roofs are frequently unable to withstand the force of a serious impact. In these situations, the roof is liable to crush inward and intrude into the vehicle cabin, causing “roof crush injuries.”
When roof crush injuries happen, it’s often because the vehicle’s roof wasn’t properly constructed. If this is the case, crash survivors may be able to hold the manufacturer of the car financially responsible for damages like hospital bills, lost income, and much more. In order to make sure that you can claim this compensation, it is very important to preserve your vehicle so that your attorney can prove its roof was poorly built.
