Several Hurt After Car Crashes Into Thrift Store
On Friday, March 6, 2020, several people suffered injuries after a vehicle crashed into a Vacaville Goodwill thrift store. Vacaville Police Department (VPD) indicated that the accident happened in the early evening and that the injured parties suffered trauma ranging from minor to moderate, adding that a few were hospitalized. The incident remains under active investigation by VPD officers, and updates on the conditions of the injured parties have not yet been made available.
Crash Information
The crash happened at about 5:03 p.m. at the Goodwill located off of Monte Vista Avenue. VPD stated that a woman having issues with her Jeep backed into another car before accelerating forward through the facade of the store. The Jeep reportedly came to a stop several feet inside of the store after striking an unreported number of customers. Additionally, one individual was left pinned under the vehicle following the accident.
An employee of the store described the scene to reporters, saying that a man and his son jumped out of the way as the Jeep crashed through the building. The employee noted that the father was worried directly after the accident because he thought his son might have been pinned under the vehicle as well.
Response
Firefighters and other response officials arrived at the collision scene shortly after store staff notified VPD about the incident. When they arrived, the response staff discovered the trapped individual and immediately began extricating them from the wreck. While multiple people were hospitalized, police indicated that nobody received life-threatening injuries and that most people were treated at the scene and did not require hospital care.
Investigation of Vacaville Goodwill Crash
As officers look into what may have caused this accident, no full reports regarding suspected factors have been released. However, investigators have stated that they do not believe driver intoxication was involved. In many cases, vehicle accidents like this one are caused by defective vehicle products such as faulty accelerator pedals, brakes, or steering systems.
Auto Product Defects and Liability
When a vehicle part doesn’t function the way it should, it can cause accidents that result in serious injuries. The companies that make and sell these parts are responsible for ensuring that their products are safe. For this reason, it’s often possible to hold auto companies financially liable for damages suffered during collisions caused by faulty car parts.
By filing a personal injury claim against an auto product manufacturer or other negligent parties, injured car accident survivors can frequently obtain the full compensation they need to cover their damages. Available compensation in an accident claim can include payments for medical expenses as well as lost income, property damage, personal suffering, and more.
