Teenager Hurt During Vacaville Rollover
On Thursday, March 5, 2020, a 19-year-old woman suffered serious trauma during a Vacaville rollover collision. California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the accident was a single-vehicle crash that took place in a rural location of Vacaville in the early afternoon. Medical officials have not yet reported updates on the woman’s health condition. Additionally, no other parties suffered injuries during the incident.
Crash Information
The accident happened on Hawkins Road just east of the intersection at Lewis Road in eastern Vacvallie. According to CHP, the 19-year-old woman had been driving a silver sedan heading east on Hawkins when she was cut off by another eastbound vehicle. The woman was reportedly forced off the road, causing the vehicle to overturn. The car eventually came to a rest on its roof near an irrigation canal off of the roadway shoulder.
Response to Vacaville Rollover
Responders from the Vacaville Fire Department found that a utility pole had punctured and intruded into the vehicle, leaving the driver trapped inside. Firefighters used special extrication machinery to remove her safely before having her placed in an ambulance and transported to a nearby trauma center for emergency care.
Phantom Vehicle Accidents
In cases where accidents are caused by a vehicle that never makes contact with the wrecked car, it can be difficult to track down the missing driver. These types of collisions are called “phantom vehicle accidents” and are much like hit-and-runs because it’s often not possible to hold the negligent driver responsible for damages.
However, as with hit-and-runs, crash survivors are frequently able to obtain compensation through their own insurance policies. This is possible if your policy includes “uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage.” These policies can vary, and insurance companies sometimes offer less than crash survivors deserve. For these reasons, it’s always best to get advice from an attorney about your case.
Rollover Collisions
Data reported by national authorities shows that rollovers are especially dangerous. The NHTSA has stated that these crashes account for a disproportionately high number of serious and fatal injuries. While there are multiple factors that increase the likelihood of an injury during a rollover crash, one of the key dangers is weak vehicle roofs.
During a rollover, it’s likely that a great deal of force will be put on the vehicle’s roof. This means that the roof needs to be able to withstand an impact to keep passengers and drivers safe. When roofs are made of weak materials or suffer from poor design, it can leave occupants with injuries that might have otherwise been avoided.
The companies that manufacture vehicles are expected to ensure that their products are safe. For this reason, auto manufacturers are often considered partially or fully at-fault for injuries sustained during collisions involving a crushed vehicle roof.
