Teenager Seriously Injured in Cottonwood Crash

On Saturday, May 2, 2020, one person suffered serious trauma in a Cottonwood crash. The injured individual has been identified by California Highway Patrol (CHP) as an 18-year-old man. Police reported that this accident involved a single pickup truck and happened on Highway Interstate 5. The cause of this accident is under investigation at this time and the condition of the injured teenager is unreported.

Crash Information

According to area CHP, the collision happened at approximately 12:19 a.m. on 1-5 at Gas Point Road. After conducting initial investigations, CHP stated that the teenager had been driving a 1995 Ford F-250 pickup truck north on the highway just prior to the crash. For unknown reasons, the driver entered the exit ramp to Gas Point road and failed to maneuver through a moderate right-hand turn. The pickup truck eventually drove off-road and continued a short distance before striking a tree.

The collision with the tree caused the pickup to overturn, ejecting the teen through a vehicle window. When respondents reached the collision location, they discovered the driver in the roadway and determined that he had suffered severe injuries. He was placed on an ambulance and driven to the Mercy Hospital.

Investigation

While CHP conducts its investigation into the crash, officers have said that they do not currently know what factors may have been involved. CHP has asked the public to help them with their investigation, urging accident witnesses or anybody with information about the incident to contact Officer C. Barnes by calling (530) 225-0500.

Rollover Crashes

Being in a rollover crash is especially dangerous and these types of accidents cause a high number of serious and deadly injuries. A key reason that rollovers are serious is weak car roofs. A car roof made of weak material or one that has been poorly designed may not be able to maintain integrity under force. This means that a rollover impact can crush the roof, injuring the people inside.

Vehicle manufacturers are responsible for the safety of the products they sell, and often have financial liability in cases involving roof crush injuries. Because of this, it is important to keep your wrecked vehicle so that your attorney can investigate whether or not its roof was properly built. Doing so is often a critical part of pursuing an injury case.

Accident Damages

Being hurt in a car crash can affect your life in many different ways. People who’ve survived a major accident are often in a lot of pain and recovering can take a long time. During this time, it’s possible that you will be unable to work, making it even harder to pay for necessary medical expenses.

To make sure that you can obtain the payments you need for these losses, it’s best to reach out to an injury lawyer who can help you file a claim against negligent parties. Because the large majority of injury attorneys offer free advice over the phone, there’s nothing to lose by reaching out.
