Time of Day Impacts Burn Recovery

Burns are some of the most severe traumatic injuries that people can sustain in an accident. These injuries are likely to leave permanent scars that have a severe impact on people’s lives, and the healing process can be complicated. Because recovering after suffering a burn injury is often difficult, it is helpful to know about what factors affect the healing process. People who’ve suffered burn injuries often want an idea of how long it will take for their body to heal. A recent study found that burn injuries heal faster if they develop during daylight hours.

How Do Burns Happen?

Burn injuries are often serious and happen when body tissues come into contact with extreme heat or cold. These extreme temperature differences result in a sudden exchange of energy between the hot or cold surface and the body. This exchange is what causes the trauma we are familiar with.

When we think of burn injuries, we often think of accidents involving hot stoves or boiling water. However, burns frequently happen during auto accidents as well. If fuel tanks are weak or if engine parts are damaged, there is a chance that vehicles can catch fire. When this happens, people are liable to suffer catastrophic injuries. In cases where people are unable to exit their vehicle, these injuries can lead to wrongful death.

Daytime Burns

When a person suffers a burn, they may develop chronic comorbidities because of the time it takes for these wounds to heal. A research organization recently conducted an investigation that looked at how long it takes for burn injuries to completely heal. This study found that when injuries occur during the day, they heal an average of ten days earlier than wounds suffered at night. This is thought to be an effect caused by fibroblasts, the cells that respond to injury sites. These cells are more active during the day, which means that the body is able to react faster to injuries when the sun is out. This speeds up the healing process overall and helps people to recover from their wounds more quickly.

Burns and Financial Issues

Severe burn injuries often leave people facing steep medical costs. Paying for surgeries and treatments is often made even more difficult because injured parties are not able to work during or after their recovery. In cases where people suffer burn injuries because of improper maintenance of equipment or defects in gas tanks, water heaters, or other products, it can often be considered a product liability case. In these situations, the parties responsible for the defective products are often responsible for paying for injuries. This allows families to focus on healing after a traumatic event.

How Much Is My Claim Worth?

The amount that can be claimed in injury cases depends on several factors. If you’d like a bit of information about how injury claims are evaluated, see the below video. However, the best way to get an idea of what your claim is worth is to speak with an Auburn personal injury lawyer over the phone.
