Two Alameda Residents Killed During Solano County Crash
Two people lost their lives as the result of a Solano County crash that took place on Monday, June 15, 2020. The two decedents were identified by the Solano County Sheriff’s Office as Michael and Fely Pascua, a 72-year-old and 71-year-old couple from Alameda. The accident happened on Highway 505 north of Vacaville near the Solano/Yolo border. The cause of the crash is still under an active California Highway Patrol (CHP) investigation.
Collision Details
The collision took place in the afternoon at around 2:08 p.m. Michael and Fely Pascua had been traveling in a red 1999 Ford F-150 pickup truck northbound on Highway Interstate 5050 near the Gaudino Road offramp to the south of the Putah Creek Road. Preliminary investigations conducted by CHP suggested that the truck veered to the right and ran off the roadway before crashing through a chain-link fence and entering an orchard. The truck came to a stop after crashing head-on into a tree, causing extreme damage to the vehicle.
Response
After receiving a phone call about the accident, CHP dispatched a team of emergency responders to the site. When they reached the scene, responders found the Ford around 40 feet away from the highway, with both occupants still inside. Both Michael and Fely Pascua were sadly declared deceased at the accident scene. No other vehicles or individuals were reported to have been involved in the crash.
Investigation
As CHP conducts investigations into possible factors involved in this accident, officers have said that driver intoxication is not suspected. Anybody who may have witnessed the accident or has information that could help with investigations is urged to get in touch with CHP by calling their Solano area office at (707) 428-2100.
Deadly accidents like this one can be challenging for police to fully investigate. This is because investigating officers aren’t able to take testimony from the involved driver, which can lead to police overlooking important evidence that could reveal negligence.
Because this evidence could be critical in a wrongful death case, it is important that you contact a Vacaville personal injury lawyer who has experience privately investigating fatal accidents. By having a lawyer look into the incident, you ensure that an experienced professional is committing time, skills, and resources to making sure your family is fairly compensated by at-fault parties.
