Vallejo Man Killed in Motorcycle Collision
On Wednesday, March 4, 2020, the Vallejo Police Department (VPD) reported the death of a Vallejo man who tragically lost his life in a recent area auto accident. Police indicated that the accident took place on Sunday, February 29, 2020, and involved two vehicles, including a motorcycle. The decedent has been identified by Solano County officials as 67-year-old John Heady. An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
Crash Information
The accident occurred at around 2:46 p.m. on Solano Avenue at the Tuolumne Street intersection in central Vallejo. The decedent had been riding a Honda 600R motorcycle east on Solano. At the same time, a blue 2009 Honda Fit driven by a 44-year-old Vallejo woman was driving north on Tuolumne. As the motorcycle was navigating the intersection, the Honda reportedly failed to yield to a stop sign. The two vehicles collided inside of the intersection.
Response
After being contacted about the crash, VPD dispatched a team of responders to the site. Responding officials discovered that the motorcyclist had suffered severe injuries to his legs and had him rushed to a local hospital via ambulance. Tragically, the man was not able to recover from his injuries and lost his life four days after the accident took place.
Investigation
As VPD continues to investigate the crash, officials have stated that they do not believe alcohol, drugs, or speeding were factors. VPD has asked for public help with their investigation, urging anybody with relevant information to get in touch with Officer Lenard Alamon by calling (707) 648-4013 regarding case number 20-2582.
Police indicated that this incident marks the first fatal vehicle accident in Vallejo in the year 2020, representing a massive reduction from the number of deadly collisions in the first months of 2019.
