Woman Killed in Redding Motorcycle Accident

A 19-year-old woman was killed in a collision with a car as she was riding on the back of a motorcycle in Redding, California, on Sunday, July 9. She has been identified as Kennetha Rae Dillon.

What Happened?

Just before 6:00 p.m., Dillon was headed east on Hartnell Avenue as a passenger on a motorcycle driven by 25-year-old Damon Bedore. James Raymer was heading the opposite way on Hartnell Avenue. Near Middleton Lane, Raymer decided to turn left, and the 52-year-old driver did not see the oncoming motorcycle with Damon and Kennetha and turned left right in front of the motorcycle. The bike struck Raymer’s Honda Civic, and both riders became trapped beneath the small car.

The Redding Fire Department was called to the scene and was able to remove both victims from under the car. The two motorcycle riders were taken to Mercy Medical Center by an ambulance. Damon Bedore was transferred to an intensive care unit at the University of California Medical Center at Davis because of his traumatic injuries. At 11:20 p.m., Dillon was pronounced dead by Mercy Medical Center doctors. Police reported that Dillon was not wearing a helmet when the crash occurred, but the bike driver, Bedore, was wearing one. Police also discovered that Bedore was driving on a suspended license.
