Driver Saved From Submerged Car Near Vallejo
The Solano County Sheriff’s Office’s Deputy Dillon Snedeker reportedly rescued a motorist from a submerged car that had crashed into the marsh off of Highway 37 just outside of Vallejo. According to reports, the accident involved two vehicles and happened in the very early morning. Thankfully, neither of the involved drivers suffered critical injuries. The accident remains under police investigation.
Crash Information
Deputy Snedeker reported that he had been on Patrol in the area between Enterprises Street and Sonoma Boulevard when he witnessed the accident. Snedeker indicated that he saw two vehicles collide on Highway 37, causing one of them to overturn and roll over several times while traveling down an embankment on the side of the highway. The vehicle finally came to a rest halfway submerged in the nearby marsh.
Snedeker reported the accident and requested assistance before exiting his patrol vehicle and rushing to the site of the submerged vehicle. After scaling a fence and sliding down the embankment, Snedeker reported that he was able to safely extricate the driver from the wrecked vehicle.
Injuries
Reports indicated that both drivers involved in the crash were injured and received medical care at the accident scene. However, specific details about their injuries were not provided. It’s important to know that even minor injuries can have a serious impact on your life and many types of trauma can worsen over time.
Investigation
So far, investigators have not released a report regarding what factors could have been involved in this crash. Multiple-vehicle accidents are often complex and caused by more than one thing. Furthermore, accidents are often caused by factors that drivers can’t control. These can involve common factors like malfunctioning car parts or dangerous roads.
Rollover Collisions
Rollover accidents are more likely than most collisions to cause serious trauma. The National Highway Traffic Safety has reported data showing that these accidents cause around ten percent of deadly accident injuries while only accounting for around two percent of U.S. car accidents.
There are a few reasons that rollover crashes tend to be so severe. One of the most important reasons is that vehicle roofs sometimes aren’t strong enough to hold up in the event of a rollover. When this is the case, drivers and passengers are liable to suffer roof crush injuries.
The companies that manufacture and sell vehicles are expected to make sure that their products are safe to use. For this reason, these companies are often considered negligent parties in accident cases involving a crushed roof. This means that injured individuals can seek compensation for their losses by filing a personal injury claim against the company.
